Seagreen Wind Energy - Marine Network

Description

As part of the major investment by SSE Renewables and TotalEnergies, Seagreen Wind Energy is constructing an offshore wind farm 30km off the Arbroath coast. Vissim who are putting in the Offshore Traffic Management Platform got in contact with Shackleton Technologies to assist them with ongoing local based support, along with engineering assistance with installation and configuration of the networking equipment and site links.

With the Seagreen main office located within the Montrose Port complex, we successfully connected 6 sites across Angus for the first phase of construction, that will securely pass traffic for the Offshore Traffic Management System (VTMS), Wave Buoy Receivers, Marine Automated Identification System (AIS), Analogue Radio (VHF) and Digital Mobile Radio (DMR).

As the overall Construction phase of the Wind Farm Development progressed, I successfully planned and stepped the network through many iterations until the Marine Systems were hosted within the Seagreen Infrastructure across 3 sites (2 onshore and 1 offshore). This was completed in time for the overall project to transition to Operation.

As part of this project there will be ongoing assistance in continuing to monitor and support the network past the transition from the Construction phase to Operation and Maintenance, when the wind farm goes live and starts producing clean energy for approx 1.6 million homes, equivalent to two-thirds of all Scottish homes.
